Lumber and Finishes

Choose from hundred's of different types of beautiful wood, and wood finishes for your next project.

Lumber

The lumber for our projects are all carefully selected from local lumber yard around Pennsylvania. Any piece of lumber that comes from outside the Tri-State area is carefully previewed before ordering, to ensure that the piece of wood we see is what we get upon delivery. Most of the wood that comes from outside of the tristate area is more of the hard to get exotic wood.

All supplies that are used in creating your one of a kind piece of furniture are all premium quality to ensure your piece of furniture lasts for years to come vs the cheap furniture you can purchase at large chain stores.

For large table tops we use book matching wood. What this means is that a piece of log is cut right after one another. They are laid next to each other and for the most part they appear to be mirroring pieces of wood shown in the example below.

For many of our end tables and desks we like to use slab wood for these creations. This makes for an eye-catching piece of furniture that is truly a one of a kind.

Below are examples of all of the different types of wood we use to create our one of a kind pieces. There are hundred’s of different types of wood out there to use. If you don’t see the type of wood listed below, please let us know when you contact us about your upcoming project and we can certainly get any type of wood you would like to use. *Please note that this lumber is one of a kind piece’s and each piece of wood rarely looks the same.

Wood Finishes

On most hardwood furniture pieces, we do not use spray or stain, but allow the oil to penetrate deeply and hand-rub it between each coat to maximize the natural color, grain patterns and luster within.

For all food-related pieces, we use only food safe finishes. Furniture pieces include bowls, spoons, plates, rolling pins, and cutting boards.

On some of our decorations, and kids furniture pieces we do use stain and polyurethane as finishing products to make these pieces more durable and for certain looks.

On some desks and table tops we use an epoxy finish to keep the wood extra protected. This is the same type of finish you would see on bar tops in restaurants.

The samples below are of different types of stain and their affect on common woods like Oak, Maple, Pine, and Poplar.
